Tips for better shoe care, longer shoe wear
—Great tip for parents—
To increase the life of your shoes, do not wear the same pair day after day. Instead, alternate wearing at least two pairs. Both pairs will last longer as a result.
When a person wears the same pair of shoes day after day, with perhaps 10-12 hours in between use, the shoes never have a chance to dry out from their exposure to feet. The materials in the shoes break down more quickly, shortening the life of the shoes. When different pairs of shoes are alternated for daily wear, each pair has 24-36 hours between use — an adequate amount of time for them to dry out and rest. The materials break down at a slower rate, and each pair of shoes lasts noticeably longer. Parents who try this with their children's running shoes often find the shoes to last more than twice as long.
